The project “Leisure Time, Holidays, and Other Minor Landscapes” is a compilation that delves into the concept of leisure in South America.
It explores the acceptance of unproductive time, moments of decompression, and the use of public spaces as settings for light yet intimate and profound experiences. The work focuses on the intensification of stimuli during leisure time and reflects on how such moments help us endure periods of crisis.
Through a broad photographic survey of South America, the project reveals the vastness of the territory, uncovering its sorrows and glories through its most private moments of rest and release.
This visual investigation centers on leisure—primarily in Chile—while establishing connections with neighboring countries. Through archival imagery and theoretical research, the project traces a convergence between leisure and consumption, emphasizing the value of unproductive time and the heightened sensory experiences of free time. In doing so, it raises questions about the diverse forms of leisure that both challenge and sustain us, and about the importance of pausing in a system that seldom stops.

Este proyecto es una recopilación que se adentra en el uso social y recreativo del paisaje público en Sudamérica. Desarrollado principalmente en Chile, pero extendido a Bolivia, Argentina y Uruguay, busca, desde una mirada amplia, entrar en contacto con un tejido íntimo y profundo del territorio.
A través del ocio —ese tiempo improductivo, de descompresión y entrega a lo cotidiano— se revela un paisaje cultural cargado de capas: deseos, crisis, verdades. Este retrato sensible de los momentos de descanso que una sociedad se permite, termina por delinear una parte fundamental de su identidad.
El intento de trazar hilos comunes entre distintos territorios se convierte en una búsqueda vasta e infinita de escenas, en la selección de instantes capaces de mostrar, con sutileza, las penas y glorias compartidas en esta geografía transfronteriza latinoamericana.
El registro de lo recreativo ha sido un tema recurrente desde los orígenes de la pintura y la fotografía. Sin embargo, este proyecto propone un giro: documentar el ocio en Sudamérica como un lenguaje común que atraviesa fronteras, una visión desde adentro, que solo nosotros, desde aquí, podemos comprender en toda su profundidad.
